Give your condolences, FC Bayern Munich fans. Legendary figure Fritz Scherer, former president of our beloved German record champions, has left us at 85. The news broke on the official club website on a somber Sunday. Did you know Fritz Scherer joined Bayern in 1971, becoming a cherished member with number 418?

Scherer's Bayern: Record Champions Made

Old-timer Uli Hoeneß (73), current honorary president of Bayern, fondly recalls shared beginnings in 1979. Back then, our income was a mere 12 million marks, and today it soars to around 950 million euros. Fritz served as treasurer in 1979, while Uli managed the team—what a dynamic duo!

After assuming the presidency in 1985, Scherer guided Bayern to record champion status in 1987. He handed over the reins to Franz Beckenbauer but continued to remain in the picture until 2012, serving as vice-president. Before that, he was treasurer from 1979 to 1985 and later honorary vice-president.

Herbert Hainer (70), our current president, reminisces over Scherer's unyielding dedication to the club, stating that Fritz made vital decisions that molded FC Bayern into the powerhouse it is today. A heartfelt "Thank you" echoes from FC Bayern to this architect of our success.

Interestingly, Paul Breitner was a noteworthy figure during the 1985 – 1994 tenure, but he was not a key decision-maker awash with power on the management side. Uli Hoeneß, on the other hand, had a pivotal role as general manager across the entire 1985 – 1994 period, playing a crucial part in shaping the club's trajectory. Lastly, Franz Beckenbauer served as president from 1985 to 1994, driving the club's strategy and growth.
