Ex-girlfriend alleges GOP Representative Cory Mills threatened to disclose intimate photos and videos of her
In an unexpected turn of events, Florida Republican Party committee member and Miss United States 2024 winner, Lindsey Langston, has accused GOP Rep. Cory Mills of threatening to release sexually explicit images and videos after their relationship ended.
The allegations against Mills were first reported by Drop Site News. According to the reports, Mills was accused of threatening to share nonconsensual, explicit images, an act that is illegal under both Florida law and the recently enacted Take It Down Act, which President Donald Trump signed into law this year.
The publishing of such content without consent, known as sexual cyberharassment or revenge porn, is a serious offence. However, it is important to note that as of the latest updates, Mills has not been charged in connection with these allegations.
The relationship between Langston and Mills began in November 2021 and continued until it ended in late February 2022. During this time, Langston lived with Mills at his Florida home. After the relationship ended, Langston claims that Mills has contacted her numerous times since February, threatening to release nude images and videos of her, including recorded videos of them engaging in sexual acts.
In one exchange, Mills allegedly wrote, "Let him put his actions behind his mouth. I can send him a videos of you as well. Oh, I still have them." In another instance, Mills is reported to have said, "Thanks again for the videos," to which Langston replied, "Haven't you hurt me enough?"
In response to these allegations, Mills denied any wrongdoing in a statement shared with CNN. Mills' communications director, Julie Singleton, stated that they have not been made aware of any report or allegations from law enforcement or the alleged complainant.
It is worth noting that Rep. Mills told Langston that his divorce was finalized in 2024, according to the police report. However, the matter involving Rep. Cory Mills was referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after initial involvement by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
A petition for a restraining order against Mills is pending before a judge, according to Langston's attorney, Anthony Sabatini. It is unclear at this time whether formal charges will be brought against Mills.
In a separate conversation, Langston wrote, "Please leave me alone." This statement was made after Mills was accused of an alleged assault against another woman, an incident that led to the ending of their relationship. Mills was not charged in the incident, and he and the woman denied there had been any violence.
Interestingly, Sabatini, Langston's attorney, had run against Mills in the 2022 GOP primary for Florida's 7th Congressional District. This adds an interesting layer to the ongoing saga.
As the investigation continues, the public awaits further developments in this case. It is crucial to remember that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
