United States Confronted: Ex-FBI Agents Alarm Congress - Imminent Threat May Stem from Domestic Sleeper Forces or Terrorist Organizations

"Ex-FBI Agents Alert Congress: The Nation is Infiltrated, Possible Imminent Attack may Originate from Hidden Enemy Units or Domestic Terrorist Groups within the U.S."

In recent years, a shift in the demographic of individuals crossing the southwest border has raised concerns among national security officials. According to reports, the change has seen a dramatic increase in single young men of military age, with about 66.6% of the 3.2 million encounters nationwide last fiscal year being single adults.

This shift is not considered an accident or coincidence. In fact, it has been linked to the Biden administration's open border policy, which some argue has allowed hostile nations or terror organizations to position sleeper armies or terror cells within the United States.

One such example is the case of a captured Somali terrorist, who was a recruitment center for the Somali al-Shabaab terror outfit. This individual managed to enter the country last March, highlighting the laxity of the administration's vetting process.

FBI Director Christopher Wray has expressed similar concerns, testifying before the House Homeland Security Committee in November. He noted that threats from the other side of the border are consuming FBI field offices, not just in border states. He also raised alarm over the 1.8 million known gotaways who slipped by Border Patrol and disappeared into the heartland.

The concern is so profound that ten former FBI officials, including Kevin Brock, the FBI's former assistant director of intelligence and principal deputy director for National Counterterrorism; Chris Swecker, former assistant director of the bureau's criminal investigative division; and Timothy Healy, former director of the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center, have warned about the situation. In a letter to GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and the chairmen of four committees, they stated that "the country has been invaded," and that invasion "will continue as long as the nation's enemies perceive it will be tolerated."

The threat primarily consists of single men of military age who have entered the country with the administration's permission. This has led to an increase in the number of encounters with illegal immigrants. Nationwide, the total number of illegal immigrants encountered is 988,819, with 564,641 being single adults. The number of illegal immigrants encountered at the southwest border this fiscal year is 785,422, with 375,739 being single adults.

The issue of national security is further complicated by the number of Russians and Chinese encountered at the borders. About 4,800 of the 8,460 Russians encountered were single adults, while more than 86% of the 20,000 Chinese encountered at the borders were single adults.

In terms of specific terror threats, this fiscal year, 144 terror suspects have been stopped at U.S. borders, compared to 736 in fiscal 2023. However, it is unclear which individuals specifically have addressed the Republican Speaker of the House and the Democratic Senate Majority Leader with warnings about the Biden administration's open border policies.

The situation is particularly concerning due to the circumvention of the nation's natural protective barriers (two oceans) over the past three years. The officials who signed the warning stated that the threat is new, daunting, and unprecedented.
