Ex-Avangard forward aims for Minsk "Dynamo" comeback

Let's Spooner Up the Convo:

Ryan Spooner, the Canadian ice hockey player who thrived with Minsk's Dinamo, has shown a keen interest in rejoining the team. Despite his enthusiasm, it seems Dinamo's not keen on having him back. As quoted by the "Hockey Insider" Telegram channel, he said, "I'd be tickled pink to return, but it's like they don't want to let me play for 'Dinamo' again. I had a blast there, and naturally, I'd love to go back. But, apparently, there's no contract offer coming my way. If a team invites me, I'm in! Ready to help 'em have a cracker of a season."

Spooner started his KHL journey back in 2019 and spent two fruitful seasons with Dinamo Minsk. In 2021, he signed a year-long contract with Yekaterinburg's Avtomobilist, returned to Belarus the next year, and joined Omsk's Avangard in 2023. During the 2023/24 season with Avangard, he scored a whopping 61 points including 23 goals and 38 assists across 65 regular games and added 6 more points (1 goal and 5 assists) in 10 playoff games. Avangard's management offered the forward an extension for another season, but as of the 2024/25 season, he departed the Omsk team.

Pavel Plyushchev, discussion host on Om1 Omsk, expressed his disagreement with the idea of Avangard signing a forward from their rivals, Dinamo. Now, why didn't Dinamo offer Spooner a contract after the 2024/25 season? We couldn't find specific reasons in our search. It might be due to factors such as budget constraints, changes in team management, strategy changes, performance issues, or availability of other players. Without details from credible sources revolving around Ryan Spooner and Dinamo Minsk for the 2024/25 season, we can only speculate about the reasons behind his non-renewal.

What about their decision not to offer a contract to Ryan Spooner after the 2024/25 season, did they forget he excelled in hockey with Dinamo? Ryan himself seemed eager to return to the sports he thrived in with Dinamo.
