Liverpool's Swedish striker, Alexander Isak, is all set to make his Merseyside derby debut against Everton on Saturday. The modern, versatile striker joined Liverpool from Newcastle United in September 2025 for a British record transfer fee of £125 million.

Isak made his first appearance for Liverpool on Tuesday against Atlético Madrid, marking the start of his journey with the Reds. However, the debut came after missing most of pre-season, which reportedly left him feeling his body more than ever.

Liverpool's record-breaking transfer spree last season, totalling nearly £450 million ($612 million), has seen several new faces join the team. The club spent this sum in a single transfer window, a record for an English club.

Slot, the Liverpool manager, is confident that the new signings, including Isak, will handle the intensity of the Merseyside derby due to their previous experience in big games. He emphasizes the importance of winning duels, playing well with the ball, and being intense to secure a victory in the derby.

The Merseyside derby has a history of tight matches, and this year seems to be no different. Every one of Liverpool's Premier League and Champions League games so far has ended with a late winner. In the last Merseyside derby in April, Jota scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 Liverpool win.

Unfortunately, Jota, who passed away at the age of 28 in a car accident in Spain, will not be present to celebrate another derby victory. Slot has praised the respect shown by Liverpool after Jota's passing, reflecting the mutual respect between the two Merseyside clubs, despite their intense rivalry.

Everton will make a trip back to Anfield on Saturday for the much-anticipated derby match. With Isak set to make his derby debut and Liverpool's impressive form, the match promises to be an exciting encounter.
