Heat's On: ARD's Summer Interviews 2025 - Here's the Deets!

Set scheduling for airtime is firmly decided - Events established for specified times

Gear up, folks! The German federal government is taking a well-deserved parliamentary summer break starting early May 2025. But fret not, because our favorite political discourse, ARD's Summer Interviews, is here to keep the conversation going!

Hosted on the "Report from Berlin" slot on Das Erste every Sunday at 6:00 PM, these interviews have become a staple during the session-free months of July and August. The party reps from the Bundestag face some serious questioning from the ARD journalists.

This year, the series kicks off on July 13, a bit later than last year's June 23 start (2024 saw a July 2 rollout). Drumroll, please, as Friedrich Merz (CDU) will be the first interviewee, squaring off against Markus Preiß on July 13.

Affairers AfD will have their say on July 20 with Alice Weidel speaking her mind to Markus Preiß once more. The Greens will be represented by Felix Banaszak, answering questions from Matthias Deiß on August 3.

As for the SPD, things are a little up in the air. Seems like they're yet to elect their chairperson, so the chat with Matthias Deiß is still an mystery. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more!

On August 17, firebrand The Left will send Jan van Aken to have a go with Anna Engelke. And the season finale on August 24 will feature CSU party bigwig Markus Söder getting grilled by Anna Engelke.

So mark your calendars, folks, and get ready for some juicy political gossip this summer with ARD's Summer Interviews 2025!

Additional Intelligence

Unfortunately, the exact schedule for the 2025 ARD Summer Interviews and the identity of the SPD representative is yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates as the summer season approaches! Keep a close eye on official ARD announcements or their tagesschau or politik websites for the latest scheduling news.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, as part of the general news and policy-and-legislation agenda. This news could potentially be a topic of discussion during ARD's Summer Interviews 2025, given its relevance to the Bundestag and the ongoing political climate.
