Event for Lena Ludwig's Arrival
In a celebration held at the Aschaffenburg town hall on August 28, the city honoured Lena Ludwig, a talented young swimmer, for her outstanding achievements in swimming. The event, organised by the city of Aschaffenburg and the city sports association, was attended by Lena's family, her youth coach Svenja Lotz, and the head of the sports department, Helmut Maier, among others.
Mayor Jürgen Herzing presented a gift to Lena Ludwig and a donation for the youth work of the swimming department of SSKC Poseidon. He also praised Lena's achievements, stating that she is a testament to the excellent youth work of the club. During the reception, it was revealed that Lena Ludwig competed in eight events at the Junior Swimming World Championships in Otopeni, Romania, where she placed 8th in the 50m breaststroke and won 2nd place in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke events, securing two silver medals.
Mayor Herzing also addressed the need for a 50-meter training pool, a wish shared by the club. He promised to discuss the topic in the responsible senate. While the name of the 1st chairman of the city sports association advocating for the construction of a 50-meter training facility was not revealed, Karlheinz Stegmann, the current 1st Chairman, was present at the reception.
Before the corona pandemic, the city had considered building a 25-meter pool, according to Mayor Herzing. However, the interest in swimming training is so high that, as per youth coach Svenja Lotz, they cannot accept any new children at the moment. Lena Ludwig, who hails from Strietwald, embodies the passion and dedication required to excel in swimming, inspiring both the city and the club.
The reception concluded with Mayor Herzing and Karlheinz Stegmann expressing their hopes for Lena's future in swimming and reiterating their commitment to supporting the club's efforts to provide the necessary facilities for aspiring swimmers like Lena.
