Event commencement for the newly established Regional Council in Essenbach
New District Administration Building In Essenbach Officially Opens
After years of planning and construction, the new district administration building in Essenbach, Landshut District, was officially inaugurated on September 17, 2025. The state-of-the-art building, designed to tackle the space shortage and consolidate the district's units under one roof, is expected to bring long-term financial benefits to the district.
The decision to build a new district administration building was made in 2017 following a key resolution by the district council. The architectural competition for the new building was won by the Stuttgart-based firm dasch zürn + partner in 2019. The architectural planning was done by HASCHER JEHLE architecture, a Berlin-based firm involved in planning for the region, including Essenbach.
The construction process was overseen by LAKUBAU, the municipal company established for major construction projects of the district. LAKUBAU worked with excellent planning and construction companies during the construction process. Thomas Stoeckl, chairman of LAKUBAU, found the personal stories behind the construction of the new district administration building memorable.
District Administrator Peter Dreier outlined the course of the project's construction. Due to significant price increases, particularly as a result of the Ukraine war, the estimated cost for the new building has risen from 75 million euros to over 100 million euros. However, careful planning and economic management will ensure that the cost will be significantly undershot.
The move of the first units of the district office administration began on September 25, with the first opening day planned for October 6. An open house day is planned for November 9, 2025.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann was the main speaker at the inauguration. Herrmann emphasized the importance of modern administration for a region. Bavarian Economic Affairs Minister Hubert Aiwanger congratulated the district office on this great success, stating that the building stands for modern administration, short distances, clear structures, and service-oriented cooperation.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Essenbacher Josef-Neumeier-Allee 1. The new administrative building was blessed by Pastors Daniel Schmid and Christoph Hilmes. Thomas Stoeckl thanked District Administrator Peter Dreier for his trust in him and his employees during the construction process.
Information on accessibility and regulations during the transition period will be published in advance. For those who wish to visit the new district administration building, an open house day is planned for November 9, 2025.
