Evening Cinema Spectacle - Saturday, 7th December 2013
Tonight, a special event is in store for music lovers as Howard Goodall presents a Gallic selection of movie soundtracks. This collection features a selection of compositions from some of France's finest movie composers.
One of the highlights of the evening is the first radio play of the soundtrack for the new Hobbit movie, composed by Howard Shore. However, it's important to note that this soundtrack is not part of the Gallic selection, as it was created by an American composer.
Despite this, the new Hobbit movie soundtrack will be played on the radio for the first time tonight, offering listeners a chance to experience its enchanting melodies.
Howard Goodall, known for his passion for French composers, will be championing these talented artists throughout the evening. Among his favourites is Alexandre Desplat, a French movie composer whose work is being profiled during the event.
The soundtrack for the original Moulin Rouge is from a French movie, and it will be part of the Gallic selection. Georges Auric, a renowned French movie composer, composed the suite from the original Moulin Rouge.
An interesting fact to note is that the soundtrack for the movie Is Paris Burning? was not composed by a French movie composer. Instead, it was the work of the late Maurice Jarre.
In addition to the new Hobbit movie soundtrack, the Gallic selection includes other notable movie soundtracks from French movies. Howard Goodall believes these composers to be the finest in the field, and he looks forward to sharing their work with his audience.
So, tune in tonight to hear a fantastic selection of movie soundtracks from France, featuring the works of some of the country's most talented movie composers.
