Evening Cinema Show - August 8, 2015, 5 PM
In an exciting turn of events, radio host Andrew Collins is set to celebrate the cinematic works of the legendary British director, Alfred Hitchcock, tonight. However, the second hour of the show will take a different route, focusing on singalong favourites from selected musicals.
Despite the musical theme, the music in this hour will not be from Hitchcock's suspenseful classics like Psycho, Vertigo, or North By Northwest. Instead, the musicals featured include popular choices such as Bugsy Malone, Annie, and Guys and Dolls.
While the music may not be from Hitchcock's films, it will still hold a connection to the master of suspense. The music for the evening has been mostly composed by Bernard Herrmann, a long-standing collaborator of Hitchcock's.
It's important to note that the music in the second hour will not be performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the same orchestra that recently recorded a new live concert recording of Herrmann's score for Psycho. This recording was produced by the prestigious label, Deutsche Grammophon.
So, whether you're a fan of Hitchcock's thrilling films or simply enjoy a good singalong, tune in tonight for an hour of music that promises to entertain and delight.
