Annual Rally Against Violence Towards Women Held in Madrid

On the 25th of November, the Council for Women's Affairs of the Evangelical Council of Madrid (CEM) and the Spanish Evangelical Alliance organised their annual rally against violence towards women in the heart of Madrid. The event, now in its eighth year, was attended by representatives of various organizing bodies, evangelical men and women, and hundreds of people.

The event began with a one-minute silence to remember the women murdered in Spain this year. Asun Quintana, president of the Seneca Falls platform and of the Women and Society Working Group of the Spanish Evangelical Alliance, made a powerful paraphrase of the gospel scene of Jesus with the Pharisees and the adulterous woman, applying it to the current reality of violence against women.

The rally denounced violence against women in various forms, including physical, psychological, human trafficking, and prostitution. A performance by Impact Kerygma (YWAM youth directed by Indira Sanchez) depicted emotional dependencies, toxic relationships, and their bondage.

Isabel Pérez Moñino and María Belén González Moreno, representatives of Vox, were also in attendance. Vox expressed their opposition to all forms of violence, including violence against women, and their stance against gender ideology. However, they criticized the caricatures made of their party at the event.

The main political parties in the Assembly of Madrid were invited, but representatives from PP and PSOE did not attend. The event offered support from the evangelical churches to those who are looking for a way out.

For those seeking more detailed information about the rally's history, guest speakers, performances, or political responses, it is recommended to consult official communications from the Evangelical Council of Madrid or the Spanish Evangelical Alliance websites, or contact them directly. Additionally, checking Spanish local news outlets that cover social and religious events in Madrid may provide further insights.

The rally attracted not only evangelical men and women but also representatives from various organizing bodies, highlighting the widespread concern for the issue of violence against women. In terms of general news, Isabel Pérez Monínio and María Belén González Moreno, representatives of Vox, were present, expressing their opposition to all forms of violence, including violence against women, and voicing their stance against gender ideology.
