Today, we're gonna dive into the legacy of the Pretty Polly Stakes - an esteemed race tightly linked to some remarkable breeding pedigrees! 🐎🏆

Some folks might say stallions or races can't make horses better, but there's definitely something to be said about the Pretty Polly Stakes! It's no mere "marketing mumbo jumbo," as that witty stallion master once explained. 👀🤫

Have you heard about the storied Pretty Polly? Bred and owned by Major Eustace Loder, she was a 1901-foaled filly that blazed a remarkable trail on the racetrack. 💥🏆

Winner of no less than 22 of her 24 races, Pretty Polly tackled distances from sprints to over two and a half miles, striking gold in such prestigious events as the 1,000 Guineas, Oaks, and St Leger, among many others! 🏆🏆🏆

And it wasn't just her racing skills that made this filly legendary; her progeny went on to fortify one of the Turf's mightiest dynasties. 👣🏆

Through her bloodline, over 130 Group 1 winners have been produced, including stars like Brigadier Gerard, Marwell, St Paddy, and Workforce. Plus, some pretty cool stallions even made the scene, like Donatello, Nearctic, and Luthier. 🐴🏆

Now, let's talk about modern-day Pretty Polly winners and their offspring. 💁‍♀️🏆

Since the race rose to Group 1 status in 2004, the winners have produced top-tier talents, with some truly incredible stories to share. 💎🏆

  • Dar Re Mi (2009 winner) had an extraordinary career as a producer, boasting a Group 1-winning son named Too Darn Hot. To sum up his achievements: 2018 Dewhurst Stakes, Prix Jean Prat, and Sussex Stakes taken down! 💪🏆🏆
  • Misty For Me (2011 winner) was the first Pretty Polly victor to spawn a Group 1 winner, with her second foal, Roly Poly, denoting accomplishments in the 2017 Falmouth Stakes, as well as the Prix Rothschild and Sun Chariot Stakes. Burning bright with her third foal, U S Navy Flag, she stamped her winning pedigree on multiple Group 1 races, including the Middle Park Stakes, Dewhurst Stakes, and July Cup! 💪💪🏆

There's more where that came from! The 2013 winner Ambivalent and 2017's runner-up Magical have delivered exciting progeny, while the 2022 victor La Petite Coco is now carrying the torch as a broodmare for some discerning buyers. 🐴🏆💖

The Pretty Polly has solidified its role as a unique blue hen making race, churning out an exceptional cast of legacy-building broodmares year after year. 💁‍♀️🏆💎🔥
