Eva Fàbregas' 'Devouring Lovers' Enchants at Hamburger Bahnhof
Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof, situated in the Mitte district, is currently hosting a captivating exhibition by Eva Fàbregas. Her latest work, 'Devouring Lovers', is a mammoth spectacle that runs until 14 January 2024. This isn't the only draw at the museum, which is also showcasing works by Fred Sandback and Christina Quarles, among others.
Eva Fàbregas, known for her intimate and boundary-pushing sculptural works, has created 'Devouring Lovers' in the museum's main hall. The installation features vast, biomorphic baubles in soft lavenders and pinks, spilling out across the hall like a fungal growth. The visible seams of the fabric surrounding these baubles, however, slightly detract from the overall effect.
The exhibition explores notions of desire, hitting both the sensual and the deeply abject. Despite the exhibition text mentioning 'tactile engagement', visitors are not allowed to touch the installation. Fàbregas' work is complemented by other exhibitions at the museum, including 'Nationalgalerie: A Collection for the 21st Century'. Meanwhile, the Hamburger Bahnhof building itself hosts a free exhibition dedicated to its own history.
Visitors to Hamburger Bahnhof can enjoy Eva Fàbregas' 'Devouring Lovers' until mid-January 2024, along with other notable exhibitions. The museum's diverse offerings provide a rich cultural experience for art enthusiasts in Berlin.
