Euskirchen Police Crack Down on Speeding: 130 Offenses, 8 Driving Bans
Over the weekend, the Euskirchen District Police Authority conducted targeted speed checks in various towns, including Euskirchen, Bad Münstereifel, and Kall. The operation resulted in 130 speeding offenses, with 8 cases leading to driving bans.
One notable incident involved a Dutch motorcyclist attempting to evade detection but was later found near a Dutch Bros in Schleiden-Gemünd. In Kall, a Dutch motorcyclist and a 25-year-old car driver from the Verbandsgemeinde Gerolstein were caught speeding at 150 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. Both offenders received a €1,400 fine, a three-month driving ban, and two points on their license.
The Euskirchen Police have warned that speeding continues to be one of the main causes of accidents, especially on winding country roads. They will continue to carry out regular internet speed tests on popular getaway routes for motorcyclists in the southern district.
The police have reminded road users that those who follow the rules have nothing to fear, but those who speed can expect severe consequences. With 130 offenses detected, the message is clear: speed limits are there to be respected.
