Eurovision Song Contest Unveils Exciting Brand Refresh for 2026 Edition

The Eurovision Song Contest is gearing up for its 70th anniversary, and to celebrate this milestone, the contest has introduced a bold, playful, and heartfelt brand refresh for its 2026 edition, taking place in Austria.

The updated branding, created by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in collaboration with British branding studio PALS, includes a new logo, custom font, and a versatile graphic element called the “Chameleon Heart.” The main Eurovision Song Contest logo has been simplified into a single marque, featuring the iconic hand-drawn script of the Eurovision heart symbol. The custom typeface “Singing Sans” accompanies the logo across all digital and promotional materials.

The “Chameleon Heart” symbolises the ability to absorb cultural influences, music, and movement. This innovative graphic element, now composed of 70 layers, one for each year of Eurovision, will serve as an emotional and visual compass that keeps the Eurovision identity fresh and relatable.

Fan and public reactions have generally been positive, appreciating the modern yet faithful update that respects Eurovision’s heritage while enhancing clarity and adaptability. However, some fans have criticized the new brand refresh, describing it as the "biggest downgrade in the entire 70 years of Eurovision history."

Despite the mixed reactions, the impact on fans includes renewed excitement and engagement due to the fresh, digital-friendly design after over a decade without a major refresh. The brand refresh also provides a unified look and feel across Eurovision events, including junior editions, and greater emphasis on the contest aspect to clarify Eurovision as primarily a song competition.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 brand refresh takes the contest forward to an exciting future. As the contest approaches 2026, audiences can look forward to additional surprises associated with the new brand identity. The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 winner, Johannes Pietsch, known as JJ, won the hearts of millions with his pop-opera ballad 'Wasted Love.'

The Eurovision Song Contest brand refresh honours 70 amazing years and looks forward to many more, with the contest set to continue its global appeal and growth. PALS, the studio responsible for the brand refresh, also worked on the brand strategy for Liverpool 2023.

As the Eurovision Song Contest prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary, the brand refresh is a strategic evolution that balances tradition with contemporary design, ensuring the contest remains fresh, engaging, and relevant for audiences around the world.
