Eurovision Song Contest to be hosted by Vienna for the third time in the following year
The 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place in Vienna, Austria, from May 12 to May 16, 2026. The city, known for its rich history and cultural attractions, will once again host the popular music event, having previously done so in 1967 and 2015.
The Wiener Stadthalle, Austria's largest indoor arena with a seating capacity of 16,152, is being offered as the venue for the grand event. However, as of now, the official confirmation of the venue is yet to be announced.
The contest will consist of two semi-finals on May 12 and May 14, followed by the grand final on May 16, 2026. The Eurovision Village will be set up at the Rathausplatz, where participants and local artists will perform, and live show screenings for the public will be held. The Vienna City Hall will serve as the EuroClub location for official after-parties, private performances, and the opening ceremony on May 10, 2026.
Austria earned the hosting rights by winning the 2025 contest with the song "Wasted Love" performed by JJ. This will be Austria's third time hosting Eurovision. The city's strong infrastructure, extensive experience with major events, excellent public transport, and commitment to sustainability are key factors contributing to its selection. Vienna has over 82,000 hotel beds in 433 properties to accommodate the expected thousands of fans, journalists, and participants.
Ukraine has confirmed its participation in the 2026 contest, indicating broad European involvement continues. However, as of now, no information about the participating countries for the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest has been provided.
The winning song of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest was "Starmania", performed by an artist named JJ. The final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 16th. The event is being organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF), under the slogan "Europe, let's dance?".
