Eurovision contest 'Supernova' in Latvia is now up for entries

Get ready for some music spectacle as the Supernova 2026 competition, Latvia's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, is set to commence!

This year, soloists, duets, and groups with a maximum of six participants are invited to apply. The application window opens on August 1st, giving artists and songwriters plenty of time to prepare their submissions.

The winners of the Supernova competition will have the honour of representing Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is a significant opportunity, considering Latvia's recent record at Eurovision has not been particularly impressive. However, Latvia has seen some success in recent years, with acts like Dons reaching the final since 2016.

The competition will consist of two semi-finals on January 31st and February 7th, followed by a grand final on February 14th. A total of 10 entries will qualify from the semi-finals for the final, with an option for one wildcard entry that did not originally qualify to be added.

To maintain Latvian representation predominance, non-residents can only hold up to 49% of the copyright and related rights on the submitted song. This means that foreigners can still participate as songwriters and producers.

The specific members of the jury for the Supernova competition have not been disclosed. However, the jury will consist of independent music and entertainment experts who will select the competing entries. The names of the artists and songs will be announced in November.

It's important to note that the song submitted for the Supernova competition must not have been published, played, or performed at public events before September 1, 2025. This is in accordance with Eurovision rules.

For more detailed regulations, you can visit the Latvian broadcaster LSM’s official website.

So, if you're a Latvian artist or a foreigner looking to make a mark in the Eurovision Song Contest, this is your chance! Submit your new, unreleased songs by October 1st to take part in Supernova 2026 and potentially represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Good luck!
