Vienna, the enchanting European capital, has been chosen as the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This marks the third time Austria will host the event, following its debut in 1967 and a more recent stint in 2015.

The city's vast accommodation capacities, excellent infrastructure, and extensive experience in organising international events make it an ideal choice. The Wiener Stadthalle, the same venue that hosted Eurovision 2015, will once again be the chosen stage for the 2026 contest.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Austrian public broadcaster (ORF) have designated Vienna as the host of the 70th anniversary of Eurovision. The theme for the contest is "United by Music", reflecting the spirit of unity and harmony that Eurovision represents.

Spain has opened the registration period for its representative for Eurovision 2026. Artists, authors, and composers in Spain can submit their proposals via the participation form on the official Eurovision website until September 24. The Spanish choreographer responsible for the contest's choreography is Carlo Castro, with Borja Rueda handling the choreography and Sergio Jaén in charge of the artistic direction.

Vienna's Mayor, Michael Ludwig, expressed enthusiasm in welcoming the world to the Austrian capital in 2026. Vienna Tourism Director, Norbert Kettner, trusts in their experience and is working hard to replicate the success of 2015.

In a break from the recent trend of non-capital cities hosting the event, Vienna offers ideal conditions for the Eurovision Song Contest. With more than 80,000 hotel beds, excellent air and rail connections, and proven infrastructure for large events, the city is well-prepared to accommodate thousands of delegations, technical teams, fans, and journalists.

Moreover, culture is accessible to all in Vienna, regardless of one's financial means. This commitment to inclusivity aligns perfectly with the spirit of Eurovision, which celebrates diversity and unity.

The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will be a free event, with numerous events taking place in public spaces across the city. This approach ensures that everyone can enjoy the festivities, fostering a sense of community and togetherness that is at the heart of Eurovision.

JJ, a 24-year-old countertenor, won the 69th edition of the contest held in Basel, Switzerland. His winning song was titled "Wasted Love". The contest will take place in May, marking another exciting chapter in the long history of the Eurovision Song Contest.

As the countdown to Eurovision 2026 begins, Vienna is gearing up to welcome the world and showcase its charm, hospitality, and love for music. The city's rich history, vibrant culture, and commitment to inclusivity make it the perfect host for this global celebration of music and unity.
