Eurostar slashes boarding times at St Pancras with £100m upgrade

London St Pancras is introducing a faster boarding process for Eurostar passengers, cutting check-in times in half and reducing queueing by up to 30 minutes. These updates come as part of a £100 million station remodelling aimed at easing congestion.

The new system will shorten the required check-in time from 60 minutes to just 30 before departure. Instead of waiting in a departure lounge, passengers will move directly to their train after security checks. Five international platforms will be shared, with travellers guiding themselves to the correct service.

The redesign expands queuing areas and creates more space for passengers. This follows new EU border security rules and an expected rise in Eurostar capacity. The improvements also prepare the station for potential new rail operators using the Channel Tunnel in the future.

Eurostar has confirmed that the changes apply only to London St Pancras. Paris Gare du Nord and other mainland stations will keep their existing boarding procedures.

The updated process aims to speed up departures and handle more breaking news efficiently. With reduced queueing and expanded facilities, the station expects smoother travel for Eurostar users. The changes will take effect as part of the ongoing £100 million upgrade.
