Eurosonic Festival spotlights Berlin-based artists
In the heart of Groningen, Netherlands, the Eurosonic Festival, Europe's largest showcase festival, played host to a plethora of rising stars this year. One of the venues, Simplon, welcomed Berlin-based band Eddington Again, known for their soulful electronica and RnB music, along with exciting visuals.
Another Berlin artist, CATT, also graced the Eurosonic stages. CATT, a band consisting of Catharina Schorling, performed two shows at the festival, one at the Grand Theatre and a matinee show at the Coffee Company cafe. Their new creative process involves trusting more in the music and the songs, and not trying to have a specific CATT sound.
The band's second album, Change, released last year, was met with critical acclaim. Thala, an international shoegaze-rockstar, also made an appearance at the festival, performing at the Coffee Company cafe and Vera club. Thala's music has evolved from shoegaze to college rock, and she is now finding her unique sound with modern elements.
Bulgarian Cartrader, aka. Daniel Stoyanov, was another standout performer at the festival. He debuted at Eurosonic last year and won a Music Moves Europe Award this year. His song 'Golden Rope' was well-received by the crowd at the festival. Bulgarian Cartrader has plans for more shows in Bulgaria for 2024.
The festival, which showcases up-and-coming talent from across Europe, attracts music professionals. It was no surprise that five Berlin musicians participated in the festival this year, one of whom won an award. The Berlin artist who received the Music Moves Europe Award at the Eurosonic Festival in 2023 is not explicitly mentioned in the available search results.
Güner Künier, a lo-fi, experimental Krautrock singer songwriter, brought her loud, brash electronics to the venue Mutua Fides during Eurosonic Festival. Her debut album Aşk has received positive responses so far, and she is currently working on the follow-up.
Eurosonic Festival continues to be a platform for discovering new talent and fostering the growth of the European music scene. With its diverse lineup and focus on emerging artists, it remains an essential event for music lovers and professionals alike.
