Bayer Leverkusen, a German football club, has undergone a significant transformation in the summer, with over 30 squad changes. Key players like Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, Jeremie Frimpong, and Xabi Alonso have left the club, and the new coach is Kasper Hjulmand, the former Danish national coach.

In a recent match against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League opener, Alejandro Grimaldo scored a goal in the 82nd minute, making the score 2:2. However, coach Kasper Hjulmand expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting concerns about individual errors and mistakes in build-up play.

The goal, a free kick, was previously responsible for the only mandatory match victory in the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt. Despite the promising new additions, Hjulmand acknowledged that the team's mix is not right yet.

Robert Andrich, the captain, praised Grimaldo's quality but agreed with goalkeeper Mark Flekken about the high dependence on standard goals. Flekken stated that the team's reliance on such moments is not favourable.

Sports director Simon Rolfes admitted that not everything is working yet due to the high turnover. He also acknowledged that the team will not reach its maximum this season. However, Rolfes stated that Bayer Leverkusen is aiming to build a new championship team.

Meanwhile, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen's upcoming league opponent, has also changed coaches, with Eugen Polanski taking over after Gerardo Seoane's dismissal. This new coach dynamic adds an interesting twist to the upcoming match.

In a bid to improve the team's defensive balance, Hjulmand emphasized the need for the team to learn quickly from their mistakes and work on their rhythm and intensity. Rolfes also acknowledged a mistake in the coach selection after Xabi Alonso's departure and expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance in the 2:2 draw against FC Copenhagen.

As Bayer Leverkusen navigates this period of change, fans and supporters eagerly await the team's progress and the development of a new championship team.
