The city of Moers in Germany will be hosting an election for the Integration Council on Sunday, September 14, 2025. This council plays a crucial role in representing the interests of people with a migration background living in Moers.

Who can vote in the Integration Council election?

Eligibility to vote in the Integration Council election in Moers is open to all residents of Moers who are at least 16 years old, regardless of their citizenship. This includes non-German nationals, German citizens, and foreign residents who have a migration background or are perceived as having one through their family or social ties.

To be eligible to vote, voters must have had their legal residence in the federal territory for at least one year as of September 14, 2024, and be registered in the voter registry of the city of Moers for the Integration Council election. They must also have been registered with their main residence in Moers by August 29, 2025, at the latest.

What does the Integration Council do?

The Integration Council serves as an advisory and participatory body that influences local policies regarding integration and migration. It promotes the interests of migrants by advising the city council on integration issues, fostering intercultural dialogue, and supporting the participation of migrants in civic life. The council helps to ensure that political decisions in Moers take into account the needs and perspectives of the diverse migrant community.

Voting and Polling Stations

For the Integration Council election, the city of Moers will set up seven polling stations, while for the municipal elections, there will be 72 polling stations. Eligible voters who receive their voting notification between August 4 and 24, 2025, are encouraged to visit their designated polling station to cast their vote.
