The Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary in a year-long program titled "Year of Remembrance, Year of Action" from August 2025 to June 2026.

The anniversary will see a diverse program of events, including commemorative events, educational programs, and collaborations with partner organizations. These initiatives aim to promote historical awareness and social responsibility, with a focus on remembrance and active engagement.

Some of the projects supported by EVZ for the anniversary and related timelines include an audio film about the Holocaust in Rivne (Ukraine) by NGO Mnemonic, educational webinars, and new online courses on Holocaust teaching methods for secondary school teachers.

The motto for the jubilee is "NO TIME TO FORGET", which reflects the foundation's commitment to maintaining a living culture of remembrance in Europe. The anniversary website will be available from August 1, 2025, providing further information about the anniversary activities.

In addition to these initiatives, the "Value & Dignity" podcast will explore the history and context of compensation payments for forced laborers, starting in the autumn of 2025. The interactive learning module "Paid Out?!" on the EVZ Academy online platform will also discuss the recognition of Nazi injustice towards forced laborers.

The 25th anniversary celebration and the network event EVZ Connect will take place in December 2025 in Berlin. The community event EVZ Histoday on the topic of transforming memories is planned for May 2026.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has taken on the patronage of the jubilee, demonstrating the significance of the anniversary in the country's history. The initial capital of the EVZ Foundation was 10.1 billion DM (5.2 billion euros), and by 2007, the foundation had made payments totaling 4.4 billion euros to over 1.66 million former forced laborers and heirs in nearly 100 countries.

The multimedia remembrance project "Ma Bistrass! Against Forgetting" by Luigi Toscano honors NS survivors from the Sinti and Roma community. The jubilee emphasizes the relevance of a living culture of remembrance in Europe, as the foundation continues to honor the former forced laborers and survivors of Nazi injustice.

Press inquiries can be directed to Katrin Kowark or Nina Kraus at the EVZ Foundation in Berlin. Further information about the anniversary activities can be found on the EVZ Foundation's anniversary website, press materials, and newsletter.
