Daredevil Challenges 12K Euro Police Bill after Euro 2020 Stadium Stunt

Mountaineer files lawsuit over alleged excessive €12,000 expense charge - European Legislative Body Consents and Establishes Decree

A daring young man from Osnabrück isn't backing down from a whopping 12,000 euros police bill for scaling Dortmund's football stadium during the Euro 2020 quarter-finals. He's launched a lawsuit against the exorbitant fee at the administrative court in Gelsenkirchen, according to a court spokesperson speaking to the German Press Agency.

Filed as case number 17 K 3525/25 on a Friday, the court has received the defendant's lawyer's statement.

The Dortmund police demand nothing less than 12,076.93 euros from the now 22-year-old – a price tag that includes over 9,000 euros for personnel costs, as well as expenses for the examination of his backpack, seizure by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Criminal Police Office, and the deployment of a police helicopter. So far, he's only had to shell out a fine of 1,050 euros for trespassing.

The confrontation started when the daredevil was discovered perched on the stadium roof during the Germany vs. Denmark match. In a twist, he had already scaled the structure the previous night to take photos, according to "Der Spiegel." He's reportedly an enthusiast within the "roofing" scene, a group of individuals who dangerously climb high structures. The adventurer was caught in Ulm in October.

The lawyer for the climber had previously declared in "Der Spiegel" before the bill arrived that he wouldn't accept it. The security forces were already in place, he argued.
