In the women's tournament, the Netherlands women's hockey team continued their dominance, winning the European Championship for the 13th time. Germany's women put up a strong fight but ultimately were second.
Julia Sonntag, an experienced goalkeeper for the German women's team, acknowledged the quality of the Dutch team and expressed that the team will need to play at a different pace against them. The German women's team, however, started their campaign on a high note, winning their opening match against an unspecified team with a score of 4:1, with Lena Micheel from Grossflottbeker GHTC scoring the fourth goal. Sophia Schwabe, a player from Duesseldorfer HC, also made an impressive debut, scoring two goals in the match.
The German men's team also had a successful start, securing a spot in the semifinals with a win against Poland.
