In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Germany's men's and women's hockey teams made their mark at the 2025 European Hockey Championships held in Mönchengladbach.

The men's team clinched their ninth EuroHockey Championship title in an intense shoot-out against the Netherlands, ending the Dutch reign in men's hockey. This victory also secured Germany's spot in the 2026 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup. The team demonstrated exceptional skill, particularly in penalty shoot-outs.

On the other hand, the women's team reached the final but narrowly lost to the Netherlands, who secured an unprecedented fifth consecutive women's EuroHockey Championship title with a 2-1 win. The German team put up a strong fight, but fell short in front of a home crowd.

As for the upcoming matches, both the men's and women's finals took place by August 17, 2025, with Germany crowned champions in the men's division and the women's team taking the silver medal. No further championship matches remain for the German teams in this tournament.

Meanwhile, Germany's Masters teams also made a strong showing in European Cups. The O35 women's team finished first with a dominant record of 6 wins, 1 draw, and 0 losses.

During the championships, several standout performances were noted. Thies Prinz, a key player for the DHB team, played his 100th game and expressed optimism for the game against Poland. In the game against England, Sara Strauss, another player from DHC, scored on her EM debut, while Sophia Schwabe, a player from Duesseldorfer HC, scored two goals in her first EM game.

The coach of the German women's team, Janneke Schopman, believes that the Dutch team is not invincible. Julia Sonntag, an experienced goalkeeper, acknowledges the quality of the Dutch team and emphasizes the need for a different tempo in the game against them.

The German women's team is set to play against the Dutch top team on Monday, a match they are looking forward to with anticipation. They will be aiming to confirm their good performance against the Dutch team in their next game.

In summary, Germany's men's and women's hockey teams put up a valiant fight at the 2025 European Hockey Championships, with the men's team securing the title and the women's team taking the silver medal. The upcoming match against the Dutch top team promises to be an exciting encounter.
