Three Germans at Darts EM - Tough Opponent for Schindler - European Darts Matchplay Kicks Off in Dortmund: Schindler vs Chisnall in Round 1

The European Darts Matchplay (EM) begins in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle this Thursday, featuring a robust German contingent led by Martin Schindler and Dave Chisnall. Schindler, ranked 2nd in the European Tour, faces a challenging first-round opponent in Chisnall, currently 16th in the world rankings.

Schindler's potential route to the final includes a possible rematch with Dirk van Duijvenbode, who bested him in the last 16 of the German Darts Championship in October 2025. Meanwhile, Niko Springer, who faces Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena in the first round, and Ricardo Pietreczko, up against Josh Rock from Northern Ireland, could set up a German clash in the round of 16 if both win their opening matches.

Top seeds Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are in the upper half of the draw, potentially setting up a final against Schindler if both advance.

The EM in Dortmund promises thrilling matches, with German players aiming to make a deep run. The tournament continues until Sunday, with the final set for Saturday evening.
