📢 It's time for the elderly to have their voices heard! Get ready for the 8th Willich Senior Council election happening in November. This neutral, political and confessional body represents the interests of approximately 18,500 people aged 58 and up.

Udo Lepke, the current chair of the Senior Council, encourages all committed citizens who want to make a difference in their city to stand for election. The Senior Council plays a significant role in shaping Willich into an age-friendly city, ensuring older people's concerns, ideas, and perspectives are heard in municipal decision-making.

Reacting to the need for more seniors' involvement, Senior Commissioner Sebastian Kludt affirms, "We need people with life experience to provide fresh ideas and actively shape the challenges of aging in our city. Standing for election is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make a difference."

Although the Senior Council is crucial, it's still not well-known by many senior Willich residents. To remedy this, the Senior Council hosts events for interested individuals, offering opportunities for casual exchange. Upcoming events include:

  • Food connects at the Kaiserplatz Community Center Willich on June 24 at 4 pm.
  • Pub evening at "1625," Anrath, on June 25 at 6 pm.
  • Workshop "In the prime of life" at KRUMM Wekeln on July 1 at 6:30 pm.

Udo Lepke is excited about these diverse formats, saying, "We look forward to engaging with people at these events."

The new Senior Council's term will extend for five years and will be held via postal vote in October. Nominations can be submitted immediately, with information and the nomination form available on the city of Willich's website: www.stadt-willich.de/seniorenbeirat. Copies can also be found at neighborhood offices and the Senior Office.

For any questions about the work of the Senior Council or the election, contact Udo Lepke from the Senior Council at 02154 951838 or Sebastian Kludt from the Senior Office at 02154 949-353.

Remember, if you want to make a difference for the older generation in local politics, this is your chance! Be a part of shaping Willich for all ages. 🌟🚀
