PSG Offer Matvey Safonov to Galatasaray Amid Transfer Uncertainty

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has offered Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov to Turkish club Galatasaray, according to reports by journalist Yagiz Sabuncoglu on social network X (formerly Twitter). The offer comes as Safonov, who joined PSG in 2024, has struggled to secure playing time behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and may be looking for a move to play more regularly.

Safonov's potential transfer to Galatasaray is contingent on the success or failure of Galatasaray's pursuit of Manchester City's Ederson. The Turkish club's first choice remains Ederson, and the Safonov transfer is dependent on the outcome of these negotiations.

During his time at PSG, Safonov has won the French championship, Cup, Super Cup, and Champions League. He spent one season at PSG as Donnarumma's backup and played 14 matches in all tournaments. However, it was reported on August 1 that Safonov would not become the main goalkeeper of PSG after the departure of Donnarumma.

PSG has stated that they will consider the option of transferring Safonov if they fail to sign another goalkeeper of world level. The Russian goalkeeper spoke about his satisfaction with his first season at PSG earlier.

It is reported that Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi refuses to join PSG due to the presence of Safonov, which could lead to Safonov being sold. However, there is no publicly available information connecting this potential transfer to Zabarnyi's status or transfer to Galatasaray at this time.

Notably, Safonov did not play in the Club World Cup tournament, which ended with London's "Chelsea" defeating "PSG" 3-0 in the decisive match. The future of Safonov at PSG remains uncertain, but the offer to Galatasaray presents a potential new chapter in his career.

Despite the uncertainty about his future at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's career may take a turn towards European leagues, as PSG has proposed him to Galatasaray. Though Galatasaray's primary target remains Manchester City's Ederson, the potential transfer of Safonov is contingent on the outcome of the ongoing negotiations.
