European Champions League Schedule: Groups Assigned for Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich Women's Teams

In a historic move, the UEFA Women's Champions League will adopt a league system for the first time, mirroring the men's competition. This new format promises exciting encounters for some of Europe's top teams, including Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg.

Last year, both Bayern and Wolfsburg failed to advance past the quarterfinals in the Champions League. However, this year, they are back with renewed determination and high expectations.

Bayern Munich, the reigning champions, have been drawn against FC Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Juventus Turin, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, and Valerenga IF in the new league phase. The highlight of their group stage is undoubtedly the match against last year's finalists, FC Barcelona.

VfL Wolfsburg, on the other hand, will face FC Chelsea, Olympic Lyon, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Valerenga. Ralf Kellermann, director of women's football at VfL Wolfsburg, expresses excitement for the upcoming games, looking forward to high-class encounters in the Champions League. National player Klara Bühl shares the sentiment, stating that the game against Barcelona is always a highlight.

The 18 teams in the Champions League were divided into three pots for the draw, with Bayern and Wolfsburg being seeded in pot one due to their good club coefficient. This means they will face tougher opponents from the other pots.

Bayern coach José Barcala believes that the upcoming Champions League games provide an opportunity to show that they belong to the top teams and are competitive at this level. He emphasises that the competition is about measuring themselves against the best teams in Europe.

Each team in the league phase will be drawn two opponents from each pot, playing one at home and one away against each. The top four teams in the league table will qualify directly for the quarterfinals and play the return leg at home. Teams ranked fifth to twelfth will play for the remaining quarterfinal spots.

The final of the Champions League will take place in May 2026 in Oslo. The league phase of the Champions League promises to be an exciting spectacle, with Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg ready to face their challenges head-on.
