Hey there, sports fans! Let's talk about the recent flourish of rhythmic gymnastics! Darja Varfolomeev, an 18-year-old prodigy from Schmiden, has snatched yet another title at the 2021 European Championships. This time, it was with the ribbon, and she did it amongst the beautiful cityscape of Varna, Bulgaria.

After placing third in the all-around the previous day, Varfolomeev, who was named Germany's Sportswoman of the Year, cruised to victory in the ribbon final. With a stellar 30.650 points, she edged out second-place finisher Meital Maayan Sumkin from Israel by a comfortable 1.1-point margin. Ukraine's Taisiia Onofritschuk rounded out the podium with 29.500 points.

Earlier in the competition, Anastasia Simakova from Schmiden posted a second-place finish in the ball final, taking home silver with 28.700 points, just behind Bulgaria's Stiliana Nikolova (29.800).

Sadly, Germany's rhythmic gymnasts found no victory in the other two finals. Varfolomeev finished fifth in the hoop final, while EM debutant Lada Pusch from Schmiden placed seventh in the clubs final. Despite these results, the Bulgarian queen of the gym, Nikolova, claimed the title of the most successful gymnast of the Championships, thanks to her victory in three finals and a second-place finish in the all-around.
