Kid Refuses to Fork Over Twelve Large for Stadium Stunt Emergency Services

If you thought scaling a football stadium during a major match was a smart move, guess again, buddy! A chap hailing from Osnabrück is digging his heels in, refusing to cough up around €12k for the emergency services that were needed to fish him out of the rafters at Dortmund's stadium during the Euro 2020 quarter-finals last June.

That's right! This 21-year-old has summit-ed the courts in Gelsenkirchen, filing a lawsuit against the hefty invoice, as confirmed by a court spokesperson to the German Press Agency. The lawsuit, bearing case number 17 K 3525/25, dropped onto the court's desk on a Friday.

Initially, the police sent our daredevil a bill for €12,076.93 for the emergency services. A whopping 108 police officers, including a special operations unit (SEK), were roped in for the operation. A substantial chunk of the bill, €9,973.00, went straight to personnel costs, according to a police spokesperson, who spilled the beans back in late April. To add salt to the wound, they also charged for the examination of his backpack by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Criminal Police Office and the deployment of the police helicopter. So far, he's only coughed up a fine of €1,050 for trespassing.

The climber miraculously surfaced under the stadium roof during the Germany vs. Denmark match. According to "Der Spiegel," he scaled up the night before to snap some pics. Notable members of the "roofing" scene, people who ascend to extreme heights, he's been apprehended before, in Ulm, in October.

Before the bill landed on his doorstep, his lawyer had already vowed that he wouldn't be footing it, claiming that the security forces were already on the premises.

  1. The community policy regarding such incidents in sports events, particularly in the context of the Champions League or European leagues, might need to be revisited in light of the ongoing legal dispute between a young man from Osnabrück and the emergency services over a €12,076.93 bill for his stadium stunt.
  2. In a twist of events, the escalating case involving a 21-year-old who scaled Dortmund's stadium during the Euro 2020 quarter-finals has taken a turn towards vocational training, as he is challenging the hefty invoice in a court in Gelsenkirchen, with case number 17 K 3525/25.
  3. As the legal battle unfolds, this incident sheds light on the questionable costs associated with vocational training in emergency services, with the police having charged our climber not only for the operation that involved 108 officers but also for the examination of his backpack by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Criminal Police Office and the deployment of the police helicopter.
