Europe experiences 2024 parcel bombings, allegedly orchestrated by Russians with links to intelligence agencies, according to Lithuanian assertions

Unidentified Russian individuals associated with Russian military intelligence purportedly orchestrated and oversaw package explosions delivered by DHL and DPD in Europe during 2024, according to statements made by Lithuania's prosecution service and criminal police on Wednesday.

Russia-linked individuals with intelligence background orchestrated 2024 package explosions across Europe, as per Lithuania's claims.

In a shocking revelation, an investigation has uncovered a series of coordinated explosions in Europe involving parcel deliveries by DHL and DPD in 2024. Six kilograms of explosives were found during the probe, leading to the charging of 15 individuals, including citizens from Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Ukraine.

The trail of destruction began on July 19, 2024, when four parcels, each containing explosive devices, were mailed from Vilnius. One of these parcels caught fire at Leipzig airport in eastern Germany the next day, while another exploded on a DPD truck in Poland on July 21. A third detonated in a DHL warehouse in Birmingham, England, on July 22. Remarkably, the fourth parcel, also being transported on a DPD truck in Poland, failed to ignite due to a malfunction.

Investigators discovered that Russian citizens with ties to Russian military intelligence organized and supervised these detonations. The organizers recruited people for the tasks via the Telegram messaging app and paid them in cryptocurrency. Two of the key figures identified in the scheme are Russian citizen Daniil Gromov, whose documents were issued under the name Jaroslav Mikhailov, and Lithuanian-Russian citizen Tomas Dovgan Stabacinskas.

The plot, it seems, was part of a test run for a larger Russian plot to trigger explosions on cargo flights to the United States. International search warrants have been issued for these three men.

It is worth noting that Russia has a history of denying accusations of malign activity, often attributing them to Russophobia. Last year, Russia denied orchestrating the IKEA fire in Vilnius, a fire that the same two men are now suspected of organizing.

Governments and intelligence agencies in Europe have previously pointed to Moscow as the likely source of a series of fires and acts of sabotage aimed at destabilizing allies of Ukraine. However, there are no search results linking any persons to package detonations involving DHL and DPD in Europe in 2024; the available information does not address this topic.

At the time of writing, there was no immediate response from Russia to the statement. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge in due course.
