Europe and India freeze as record-breaking cold wave tightens its grip
A severe cold wave is gripping Europe and parts of India, with temperatures plummeting and snowfall expected in many regions. Meteorologists warn that the chilly weather will persist for weeks.
In Europe, the cold snap is predicted to continue, bringing below-average temperatures and occasional snow, particularly to the north and east. Meanwhile, in India, Madhya Pradesh is shivering under an early cold wave, with temperatures dropping significantly. Bhopal recorded 8.4°C, the second-lowest in a decade, while Rajgarh was even colder at 7.4°C, beating the hill station Pachmarhi. Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur reported temperatures of 10.5°C, 10.4°C, and 12.2°C respectively. Meteorologists predict the chill will intensify further in the coming weeks, especially across northern and western districts. Daytime temperatures have dropped below 30°C in most cities, marking an early onset of winter. Indore witnessed its coldest November night in 25 years, with a temperature of 6°C.
The cold wave is expected to persist for the next two days, accompanied by increased fog and reduced visibility. A two-day cold wave alert has been issued for nine districts in Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal and Indore. The early cold wave is due to icy winds from the north.
The cold wave is expected to continue in both Europe and parts of India, with temperatures remaining below average and snowfall likely in some regions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the chilly weather.
