Spain's Men's Basketball Team Sets Sights on EuroBasket 2025

Spain's men's basketball team, eager to defend their continental title, has finalised its roster for EuroBasket 2025. The team, consisting of 12 players, includes notable names such as Jaime Pradilla, Mario Saint-Supéry, Xabier López-Arostegui, and Santi Aldama. The roster adheres to FIBA eligibility rules, allowing for one naturalised player [1].

As August 27, 2025, approaches, the team will participate in the Ciudad de Málaga Tournament. In this tournament, they will face Portugal and the Czech Republic. The Spain 'B' team, featuring young talents like Sergio de Larrea, Mario Saint-Supéry, Eli-John Ndiaye, Santi Yusta, Yankuba Sima, and Josep Puerto, will have an opportunity to compete for a spot in the tournament [1].

Coach Sergio Scariolo hopes the players will have fun, compete, and distribute minutes as needed during the tournament. The Spain 'B' team is coached by Jaume Ponsarnau.

Before the tournament, the Spanish national team concluded its preparation with a double header against Germany, the current world champions, in Madrid and Cologne. The team also defeated Costa de Marfil 91-86 in a friendly match last weekend [1].

The Spain 'B' team will face the Czech team on Tuesday at 18:00, and the Portuguese team on Thursday at the same time. Notable players to watch in the Czech Republic team include Ondrej Balvin and David Jelinek, who are familiar faces to Spanish fans [1].

Portugal's roster includes Boston Celtics player Neemias Queta, adding an extra layer of excitement to the match on Tuesday at 21:00 [1].

The tournament will help coach Sergio Scariolo clarify his ideas for the final 12-player list for EuroBasket. With the loss of key players such as Rudy Fernández, Alex Abrines, Sergio Llull, Usman Garuba, and Lorenzo Brown, Scariolo must find a new block to defend the continental title in EuroBasket [1].

The injury of Jan Vesely is notable in the Czech Republic team [1]. The Spanish men's basketball team will travel to Málaga after their final training session at the Centro Deportivo Municipal Triángulo de Oro in Madrid, ready to take on the challenges of EuroBasket 2025.
