Euro donation from Harburger Hallencup 2015 benefits DRK hospice
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the 38th Harburg Indoor Cup, co-organized by football legends Manfred von Soosten, Alf Bas, and Jürgen Weßeloh, has raised a total of 11,185 euros for the DRK Hospice in Langenbeck. This donation marks the seventh consecutive year that the tournament has contributed to charitable causes.
The visit to the hospice on Thursday was an emotional one, with the directors and organisers expressing their gratitude for the ongoing support. Britta True, the hospice's director, expressed her need for specific items, such as a fully automatic coffee machine and two new shower chairs with wheels, to enhance the comfort and convenience for hospice guests.
Dr. Simone Thiede, who is responsible for DRK fundraising, expressed her gratitude for the long-standing support from the football organisers. She emphasised that the donation will make a significant difference in the lives of the hospice guests.
The donation of 9,185 euros will be used to purchase the much-needed coffee machine and shower chairs. An additional 2,015 euros was also donated, bringing the total donation to 11,185 euros. It is worth noting that an additional 2,015 euros was collected after the tournament, making this year's donation particularly significant.
The handover of the donation took place this year in the "Room of Silence", a place that holds special significance for the hospice. The purchase of the coffee machine and shower chairs will make a tangible difference in the lives of the hospice guests, providing them with a sense of comfort and normalcy during challenging times.
This donation to DRK Hospice in Langenbeck continues the tradition of charitable contributions from the Harburg Indoor Cup. In fact, the donation to the hospice this year was the sixth following the tournament, and it has now fulfilled six hospice wishes.
It is important to note that an additional donation of 2,015 euros was made by Angela Merkel on the Thursday before last. Meanwhile, 9,185 euros were donated to Nymphenweg School.
The Harburg Indoor Cup has become a symbol of community spirit and charitable giving in the region. The event, which brings together football enthusiasts, has a profound impact on the lives of those in need, and it is a testament to the power of sport and community coming together for a good cause.
