Discussions in Alaska: Proposed Solution by Europeans for Ukraine - EU remains dedicated to the execution of its nuclear project.

The upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has the Ukraine issue as its focus, according to a joint declaration made by France, Italy, Germany, Poland, the UK, Finland, and the EU Commission.

The declaration, which was also signed by an unspecified number of other European countries, emphasizes unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, rejection of any peace terms dictated by Russia, and the necessity of Ukraine’s full participation in any negotiations.

The European countries have made it clear that peace must respect international law and Ukraine’s territorial integrity; international borders cannot be changed by force. A lasting peace requires Ukraine’s democratic leadership to be fully involved in negotiations, and the path to peace cannot be decided without Ukraine.

The EU stands ready to provide further political, financial, and military support to Ukraine for self-defense and demands security guarantees for Kyiv. The EU also pledged support for Ukraine’s path towards EU membership.

In addition, a Coalition of the Willing led by the UK and France is operationalizing plans to ensure that any ceasefire in Ukraine is lasting. Ongoing military planning is being carried out to support a ceasefire or peace deal, and discussions on drafting a peace treaty proposal that bolsters Ukraine’s defense capabilities and long-term support for its army are underway.

The European countries are also working on longer-term support frameworks, such as a separate Ukraine Reserve fund within the Global Europe instrument proposal, designed to support Ukraine’s accession and reconstruction efforts with up to €100 billion in loans, provided beyond the standard EU budget ceilings.

The current frontline is suggested as the starting point for negotiations in the Ukraine issue, according to the European proposal, and this point is reiterated in the joint declaration. The EU Council president António Costa drafted this proposal just before the US-Russia summit in Alaska.

In summary, the European countries aim to ensure any peace process involves Ukraine fully, rejects territorial concessions forced by Russia, continues robust support to Ukraine’s defense and recovery, and demands security guarantees that protect both Ukraine’s and Europe’s future security interests in anticipation of the US-Russia summit.

  1. The European Union, in its commitment to the development of a common foreign and security policy, has pledged support for Ukraine's full participation in any negotiations regarding the Ukraine issue, aiming to ensure a peace process that involves Ukraine fully and respects its territorial integrity.
  2. In the midst of the ongoing war-and-conflicts in Ukraine, politics and general news are closely monitoring the international efforts to ensure peace, with the European Union playing a significant role in advocating for Ukraine's rights and security, thereby influencing global politics.
