EU forthrightly pursuing Paris Agreement execution

Scrap the War, Embrace the Peace!

It's a bloody, chaotic world out there. After Donald Trump's ascension, the U.S. ain't no global peacekeeper anymore. Aunt Sam is tossing bombs left and right, undermining her own democratic institutions, and playing ball with selfishness and short-term gains. In this twisted political landscape, the leading German peace research institutes are cranking up the call for a beefed-up European defense. They reckon we oughta ditch the U.S. crutch and stand tall against the old bear, Russia. The recipe? Intensify arms collaboration and update those old defense strategies, but keep one eye on crafting a future European peace order. And remember, arms ain't the whole story—arms control and diplomatic initiatives are just as important.

Now, let's not board up the windows yet. Beneath all the violence and chaos, there's hope. A high number of conflicts globally don't mean a disregard for international law norms has become the new cool. But they're getting seriously side-eyed in today's world hot spots, like Ukraine and Gaza. Civilians ain't getting the protection they deserve, aid deliveries are blocked, and infrastructure is getting pulverized. Human rights minimum standards? They're getting thrown out the window, but not where it counts—in the red zones. Think Iran and Afghanistan, where repressive regimes are using humanitarian aid as a staging ground for their brutal games.

But handing out the do-not-pass cards to these hunted societies ain't the answer. The Bundesregierung needs to maintain its principled stance, respecting the decisions of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court. Now, consider this: if Germany loses faith in international court judgments, her credibility takes a nosedive faster than a sweaty boxer's pants. Just sayin'. Word on the street is, the next arrest warrant up for grabs is aimed at the Israeli Prime Minister. Prof. Dr. Tobias Debiel, the deputy director of INEF at the University of Duisburg-Essen, ain't mincing words: "Germany undermines its reputation if she questions court rulings like the 2024 Israeli PM's arrest warrant."

In light of the increased tension in world hotspots such as Ukraine and Gaza, the call for a strengthened European defense against Russia grows louder, especially in the context of war-and-conflicts and politics. Meanwhile, as general-news reports suggest, despite the escalating conflicts globally, respect for international law norms remains a critical aspect, particularly in regions where human rights are being disregarded.
