EU Delegation in Kyiv Undergoes Visit from SIC Team After 28th August Assault

In a surprising turn of events, the European Union (EU) delegation building in the Ukrainian capital was targeted in an attack early on the morning of August 28. The attack, which occurred at 05:40, saw two fragmentation missiles dropped in the area, causing significant damage.

According to reports, more than 100 windows were shattered, and shrapnel scattered throughout the hallways of the affected buildings. Remarkably, the delegation staff reacted quickly to the attack, ensuring the safety of everyone present.

The ambassador of the EU delegation, Matti Maasikas, made a statement following the incident. Maasikas, who has been in his post for some time, believes that the Russian president understands only the language of force. In light of this attack, he has called for greater international pressure on the Russian president.

The house affected by the attack is a first in more than three and a half years of large-scale war. The EU delegation building was not the only target; other international organization buildings were also affected.

Despite the attack, the staff of the EU delegation continue their work in Ukraine. This resilience underscores the endurance of diplomacy even under the most challenging circumstances.

The second missile fell about 80 meters from the EU delegation building, causing further damage to the surrounding area. The attack affected all buildings in the vicinity, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the assault.

The ambassador's call for increased international pressure comes as tensions between Ukraine and Russia continue to escalate. As the situation develops, the EU and other international bodies remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
