Abraham Misses German Course Record in Frankfurt - Ethiopia's Diriba and Asfaw Win Frankfurt Marathon; Abraham Nears German Record
The 42nd Frankfurt Marathon saw Ethiopia's Buze Diriba claim victory in the women's race, while Filimon Abraham narrowly missed the German course record in the men's event. Diriba crossed the finish line in an impressive 2:19:34, ahead of Kenya's Magdalyne Masai who finished in 2:20:23. In the men's race, Ethiopia's Belay Asfaw secured the win with a time of 2:06:16. Abraham, running for Germany, completed the marathon in 2:09:43. Despite his strong performance, he fell short of breaking Arne Gabius's German record set in 2015, which stands at 2:08:33. Abraham missed the record by a mere 70 seconds. While no German runners featured in the leading positions, Abraham's close call with the national record shows promising potential in German marathon running. The Frankfurt Marathon continues to attract top international talent, with Ethiopia dominating both the men's and women's races this year.
