Estrada Hits another Home Run in Defeat against New Hampshire
In an action-packed game on July 13, 2022, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats emerged victorious against the Chesapeake Baysox, securing a 7-5 win at Prince George's Stadium.
The Fisher Cats took an early lead, scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to establish a 5-2 advantage. The Baysox fought back valiantly, with Adam Retzbach hitting a two-run homer in the sixth inning, his tenth of the year. Doug Hodo also contributed with a two-run homer in the same inning, his sixth of the season.
However, the Baysox's comeback attempts were thwarted in the eighth inning, when Aron Estrada, fresh from his call-up from High-A Aberdeen, hit a solo homer to extend the Fisher Cats' lead. Estrada has now homered in both of his games since his promotion.
Grant Rogers was the winning pitcher for the Fisher Cats, going 5.2 innings and allowing four runs while striking out six. Tyler Wells, an Orioles' right-hander on a Major League rehab assignment, started for the Baysox and pitched two innings without allowing a baserunner. Wells had undergone right elbow UCL surgery in June 2024.
Despite nine starters recording hits, the Baysox stranded the tying runs at first and second in the bottom of the ninth. Conor Larkin (S, 5) sealed the victory for the Fisher Cats by getting Retzbach to ground out to end the game.
The series continues tomorrow night with game three at Prince George's Stadium. Trey Gibson is scheduled to start for the Baysox, but no pitcher has been determined for the Fisher Cats as of yet.
