Establishments labeled as crisis supply points

In a bid to enhance its combat readiness and maintain stability in people's livelihoods and the economy during a crisis, the Taiwanese government has announced plans to boost its wartime supply stockpiles and infrastructure.

Lieutenant General Huang Wen-chi, the Minister of National Defense, has ordered an increase in wartime supply stockpiles from 30 days of rations to 120 days. This decision comes in response to China's increasing maritime blockade capabilities.

The supply stockpiles are not limited to daily necessities but also include fuel, drinking water, spare parts, ammunition, and rations. Other items require special storage conditions, and a portion of a special budget will be allocated for building storage facilities and infrastructure.

The government has planned 5,668 stations across Taiwan, designated as supply stations for daily necessities in a crisis. These stations are intended to stock and supply rice, cooking oil, salt, gas, and infant formula, among other essential goods.

Minister of Economic Affairs Wellington Koo has made preliminary contact with PX Mart regarding wartime supply matters. The Ministry of Economic Affairs plans to combine private-sector efforts to take advantage of convenience stores and supermarkets for rationing operations. However, the search results do not provide information on specific companies that the Ministry of Economic Affairs has contacted to assist in the distribution of food and other necessities during a crisis.

The main goal of this initiative is to support the entire duration of combat, as stated by the defense ministry. Wartime stockpiles refer to military supplies planned and stored based on operational concepts.

Huang Wen-chi has emphasized the need to prioritize wartime supplies, particularly fuel and drinking water. The All-out Defense Mobilization Agency Director, Shen Wei-chih, stated this at a news conference introducing an updated civil defense handbook.

The review and adjustment of wartime supply stockpiles are aimed at maintaining sustained combat capability. The supply stockpiles will be continuously reviewed and adjusted to ensure they meet the needs of the military and civilians in a crisis.

The government's aim is to achieve whole-of-society defense resilience, ensuring the government's normal operations during a crisis. This approach involves the collaboration of various sectors, including the private sector, to ensure the smooth distribution of essential goods in a crisis.
