SFD'75 Celebrates 46th Birthday with a Sports-Filled Jubilee

On Saturday, the sports club SFD'75 (Sportfreunde Düsseldorf 75) celebrated its 46th birthday in style at the Niederheid sports facility. The event, attended by members, friends, and local dignitaries, featured a variety of sports activities, refreshments, and entertainment.

The birthday celebrant, SFD'75, was founded in 1975 through the merger of Tura Holthausen, SC Reisholz, and parts of the former works sports group of the Henkel company. Over the years, the club has grown to become one of the largest sports clubs in Düsseldorf, boasting around 2,500 members.

The development of the club into a thriving sports community is due in large part to the commitment of the team, trainers, and numerous volunteers. SFD'75 offers a wide range of sports, including judo, chess, athletics, handball, beach volleyball, Zumba, rehabilitation and senior sports, and more.

During the jubilee party, visitors had the opportunity to try out various sports and collect stamps for a reward in an SFD challenge. The judo club performed movement sequences, while children enjoyed activities such as trying out handball throwing speed, playing beach volleyball, learning chess basics, and participating in Zumba. A surf simulator and a climbing wall were also popular attractions.

The event was moderated by Piet Keusen and Lutz Grünewald, and Mayor Keller presented a birthday check to the managing directors, Fabian Reismann and Dr. Michael Görlach. Cooled drinks, a cake and grill selection, and the devil's bar were available for refreshments.

The Niederheid sports park, where the event took place, was donated by the Henkel company to mark its 100th anniversary. The park has been a valuable asset to the community, providing a venue for sports and recreation for all ages.
