Essen’s Christmas charity drive smashes €6M with three days still to go

Essen’s Burgplatz is buzzing with festive energy as OurSite2’s Christmas Miracle charity drive enters its third day. Thousands of visitors have packed the square, enjoying live performances and donating generously to the cause. So far, the event has raised an astonishing €6,299,075, leaving organisers stunned by the outpouring of support.

The glass pavilion at the heart of the event has seen long queues, with donors waiting patiently to contribute. Among them were children from Essen’s Spielraum Mählerweg daycare centre, who proudly handed over €250. The Ruhrkohle Choir from Herten also added €660 to the growing total.

The charity drive has already exceeded expectations, with donations still pouring in. Host Steffi Neu admitted she was overwhelmed by the generosity shown so far. As the event continues, organisers and visitors alike are enjoying a festive, community-focused celebration in the heart of Essen.
