Essen Opens Two New Schools in 2026/2027 Academic Year
Essen is set to open two new schools in the 2026/2027 academic year. The elementary school Altenessen-Süd will begin operations in the city, while the comprehensive school Altenessen-South will also start, offering four classes.
The new classroom will initially operate from the basement and ground floor of house 7 in the Bildungspark. This temporary location will allow for an early start of school operations. Once the new building at Erbslohstraße 3 is completed, the classroom will continue with six classes.
The city council will cover staff and equipment costs from August 2026. Additional material costs will be financed annually initially and then integrated into the budget from 2027.
The new comprehensive school Altenessen-South will start operations at Karolingerstraße 93 with four classes for the 2026/2027 school year. Essen's commitment to education is evident in these new school openings, ensuring quality learning spaces for its students.
