Museum's Event with Vacant Space After Curator's Uninvitation

In an unexpected turn of events, the Museum Folkwang decided to present their exhibition, "We is the future. Visions of New Communities," without the planned contributions of curator Anaïs Duplan. The change occurred after Duplan used Instagram to propagate support for the BDS network, which has been categorized as anti-Semitic and advocates for a boycott of Israel.

As a result, the museum terminated its collaboration with Duplan last week. In lieu of his intended display, a large table laden with informative material on the topic of Afro-futurism now occupies the exhibition space originally reserved for Duplan's contributions. The table serves as a platform for open dialogue and discussion.

The exhibition runs through March 17, 2023, showcasing approximately 160 pieces from 120 years of artistic exploration into ideals of harmonious coexistence. Visitors can expect to see paintings, sculptures, videos, performances, and a unique installation specifically crafted for the event.

Despite the controversial circumstances surrounding Duplan's disinvitation, the 'Art of Exhibitions' at Museum Folkwang persists, as evidenced by the alternative Afro-futurism table, ultimately promoting an exhibition that sparks thought-provoking discussions.
