ESPN takes significant action following Randy Moss's temporary departure during his cancer fight
Randy Moss, the legendary NFL wide receiver and beloved analyst, is set to make a full-time comeback to ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" for the 2025 NFL season. After taking a break due to a cancer diagnosis, Moss will resume his regular schedule starting in Week 1 of the season.
The emotional return of Moss during the Super Bowl broadcast in New Orleans was a significant moment for both the ESPN team and the football community. Fans had been growing concerned about Moss's absence since November, when his eyes appeared yellow on the ESPN set, causing widespread speculation about his health.
In December 2024, Moss revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer outside his bile duct. He underwent a six-hour surgery and subsequently underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Despite these challenges, Moss made a special appearance on the show for the Super Bowl and is now ready to rejoin the team fully for the upcoming season.
ESPN called Moss's return "the highlight of the offseason" and emphasised the positive impact of his comeback. During his emotional return, Moss thanked everyone for their support, expressing gratitude towards his doctors, his wife, and the 'prayer warriors'. He also laughed and asked ESPN host Mike Greenberg not to make a tribute again, admitting that it was a bit overwhelming.
Moss, who is now a cancer survivor, also thanked Dr. John Martinie, calling him the best doctor in the United States. Greenberg, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Moss for returning to the show, acknowledging that the football community was uplifted by his presence.
Moss's goal was always to be back with his co-hosts on "Sunday NFL Countdown", and it seems that goal has been achieved. Fans can look forward to Moss's insightful analysis and infectious enthusiasm when the NFL season kicks off in Week 1.
