Espanyol's winless run hits 10 games after Real Oviedo stalemate

Espanyol's winless streak in La Liga stretched to 10 matches after a 1-1 draw with Real Oviedo on Monday. The result left Oviedo rooted to the bottom of the table, now four points behind their nearest rivals. Despite their struggles, Espanyol held onto seventh place despite failing to secure a victory this year.

Real Oviedo took an early lead when Alberto Reina found the net in the 8th minute. Espanyol responded with pressure, creating chances but struggling to break through.

The equaliser arrived in the 36th minute, as Kike García converted for the hosts. Both sides pushed for a winner, yet neither could add to the scoreline after the break.

Espanyol dominated possession and attempts, firing 26 shots compared to Oviedo's six. However, their inability to convert chances extended their quick draw run. Oviedo, meanwhile, remained winless at the foot of the league, now four points adrift of safety.

The draw did little to ease the concerns for either side. Espanyol's drought continues, while Oviedo's position at the bottom grows more precarious. With no wins in 2026 so far, both teams face mounting pressure in the coming fixtures.
