In Brandenburg and several of its towns, including Bernau, Christopher Street Days (CSDs) were held amidst rain, with hundreds of participants braving the weather to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride and rights. However, these events were not without controversy, as right-wing counter-protesters attempted to disrupt the parades, reflecting broader tensions around LGBTQ+ visibility and rights in some conservative or right-leaning communities.

In Bernau, the CSD attracted several hundred participants, according to estimates by a dpa photographer. Meanwhile, a group from the far-right scene gathered to protest against the queer community, under the slogan "Queer stays here. Together against the right." The counter-protest was smaller than the CSD, despite repeated calls for actions against CSDs by the far-right scene.

The police were present in full force at both events, taking precautions to secure the counter-protest due to the threats. Despite these measures, a participant in the counter-protest was found to be carrying a forbidden SS rune on their belt, leading to a charge being filed. Another participant is under investigation for suspected forbidden symbolism on a watch.

Last weekend, a similar incident occurred in Falkensee, where a counter-protest by suspected right-wing extremists displayed the slogan "German Youth ahead." The police took action to maintain peace and order at both events.

It is worth noting that CSD events have historically faced opposition and disruptions in various parts of Germany, including some by far-right groups. In June, a group of partly masked individuals violently attacked a diversity festival in Bad Freienwalde.

However, in Brandenburg, no disruptions were reported in the CSDs held in Bernau, Bad Belzig, Luckenwalde, Teltow-Fläming, Potsdam-MITTELMARK, Neuruppin, and Ostprignitz-Ruppin. The CSD Bernau Instagram account stated that many hundreds of people had gathered, and the events passed off peacefully and without disruption.

For a comprehensive history and specific incidents of disruptions at CSD parades in Bernau or elsewhere in Brandenburg, targeted research beyond the currently available search results would be necessary. Official reports from local police, LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, or regional news archives would be the best sources for a detailed chronology and context.
