Jordanian Special Flights for German Expats

Escaping Iran involves several options:

In the midst of the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, Jordan is hosting special flights aimed at aiding German citizens looking to exit Israel. A spokesperson from Germany's Foreign Office revealed that a commercial special flight carrying approximately 200 passengers will take off today, with another scheduled for Thursday.

"These flights are not part of an evacuation or repatriation plan," the spokesperson clarified, emphasizing that they are instead offered to any Germans wishing to leave Israel via Jordan due to security concerns. The cost for a seat on the flight is approximately 300 euros.

Difficulties for Iranian Residents

The situation proves more challenging for Germans stuck in Iran, as airspace exit options have been limited. Land border exits, however, are possible, with borders to Armenia and Turkey partially open. Closures have been reported for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

The German embassy in Tehran remains closed. Germans in Iran are encouraged to register on the crisis preparedness list and await further instructions. With significant restrictions on exit options anticipated, those still in the country are urged to leave as soon as possible.

International Efforts to Assist Citizens

Germany isn't alone in its attempts to help citizens stranded amidst the conflict. Governments worldwide are organizing evacuations from both Israel and Iran. While specific details on costs and availability for Iranian citizens aren't available, countries like Vietnam are taking steps to ensure the safety of their nationals in both countries.

Vietnam recently evacuated 18 of its citizens from Iran, with 16 returning to their homeland. This could suggest that evacuation efforts are being made for various nationalities, with further investigation required to determine the specifics for Iranians.

Overcoming Travel Challenges

To reach Amman, Jordan, German citizens are recommended to travel by land due to the closure of Israeli airspace. Germans in Israel registered on the Elefand crisis preparedness list are being informed about available evacuation options and details via email or text message.
